MONSTRA | Lisbon Animation Festival is an event where animated film meets other media and arts, aiming to present, disseminate, experiment and discuss ideas, crossing over new artistic approaches and forms, on which animated film is the narrative and aesthetic expression. The Festival’s main goal is to present and promote the best-animated films made all over the World.

MONSTRA’s 20 years of full animation will happen from March 18th to 29th 2020.

Each edition we focus on a guest country with retrospectives and curatorships of several authors on a guest country. In 2020 the guest country is THE WORLD, paying tribute to the 20th anniversary of the Festival, and 75th of UN and the general subject will be the PEACE.

Our competitive sections are: Feature Films, Short Films, Student Short Films, Super Short Films, Short Films for Children and Youth, Series, Portuguese Short Films.
Submissions for the Short Films for Children and Youth are running until October 13th 2019.
Submissions for the remaining categories on the International Competition are running until November 3rd.
Submissions for the Portuguese Competition are running until January 12th 2020.

Filmmakers with selected films for the International Competition will be notified via e-mail after December 26th 2019.
