  • Submission Info

The International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film – DOK Leipzig – is the largest German and one of the leading international festivals for artistic documentary and animated films.

Artistic animated film is an integral part of the festival for decades and is represented with its own, independent competition since 1995. This ‘twin-track character’ makes Leipzig unique in the festival landscape.

We look for innovative audiovisual works telling a non-fictional story with technical elements beyond film. The projects may range from webdocs to apps, Virtual Reality to installations.

We are very happy to receive films and interactive projects for all kinds of audiences – those for children and teenagers are very welcome, too.

Did you know: all winners of our International Competition for Short Documentary and Animation Films will qualify for consideration for the annual ACADEMY AWARDS® provided that the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

Year established: 1955

Is this festival exclusively animation?: No - this is a film festival but with a specific animation category
